Speaking to Lusa, the vice-president of Santarém City Council, João Teixeira Leite, said that the Festival will take place between October 27th and November 5th in Santarém.
“We are talking about the main gastronomic event in our country. The first gastronomic festival that Portugal had, the oldest, most transversal and factually representative in our country at a gastronomic level. It is fundamental for the country and for our municipality. Santarém has established itself in recent years as the national capital of gastronomy and is the flagship event for other initiatives we carry out throughout the year”, he highlighted.
The vice-president of the Chamber of Santarém said that, in the festival space, which takes place in the old Casa do Campino stables, there will be 30 agri-food producers, 20 sweet shops, 18 commercial and institutional stands, 30 artisans, eight permanent restaurants , nine wine regions and several gastronomic demonstrations.
João Teixeira Leite also said that the event will feature Michelin-starred chefs in the “Banquet Zone”, at Casa do Campino, such as Marlene Vieira, Paulo Morais, Louis Anjos and Arnaldo Azevedo.
