Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga will be under red warning between 09:00 today and 15:00 on Friday, due to the forecast of “northwest waves with a significant height of 7 to 8 meters, reaching a maximum height of 14 to 15 meters”.

Faro, Setúbal and Beja will be under orange warning, between 15:00 today and 00:00 on Saturday, also due to the forecast of strong sea unrest, according to the IPMA note.

In Guarda, Vila Real and Viseu, an orange warning was issued this morning until 06:00.

The red warning is the most serious on a scale of three (red, orange and yellow).

The orange warning is issued by IPMA whenever there is a "moderate to high-risk meteorological situation and yellow when there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation".
