Aveiro was distinguished for the third time as the best municipality in the country in 2023. The city known as 'the Portuguese Venice' was awarded by a study carried out by Marktest, cites O Jornal Económico.
The municipality, which had already been awarded this award in 2020 and 2019, obtained 14 values on a scale of 1 to 20, with demographic dynamism, economic dynamism and quality of life being assessed.
José Ribau Esteves, president of the Chamber of Aveiro, states that “this is a distinction that greatly honors us and which reflects the work developed by the Municipal Chamber of Aveiro (CMA) in partnership with the business sector, with public and private entities, with associations and with the Aveirenses. The CMA is committed to continuing its work and its political strategy so that Aveiro remains on its path of growth and development”.
These 'municipal ratings ' were created in 2014 by Markest, and aim to provide local entities or companies with tools that show the main strengths and weaknesses of each municipality. According to Markest, a total of 39 indicators were analysed in a set of 308 municipalities in the country.
Lisbon dropped to second place in the ranking obtaining 13.9 points, four-tenths less than in 2022. The same study indicates that São João da Madeira moves up three places to reach second position, having four-tenths more than in 2022.
The municipality of Albufeira reached fourth place, with 13.5 points, four-tenths less than in 2022, being tied with Leiria and Esposende.
