“Amarante, in the Porto district, will once again celebrate world culture and music, with an inclusive, diverse and bold program, which is completely free”, said the organiser.

Marcelo D2 and Fatoumata Diawara were the first two names announced for the 2024 program.

In March last year, the festival organisation and the Amarante City Council revealed that they had reached an agreement to return the event to the city, ending the legal process involving the two entities.

The festival had an edition in Porto, from September 23 to September 25, 2022, however, it did not come back in 2023, due to the municipality’s claims, through President Rui Moreira, that the organiser “failed to comply with the norms that were previously established”.

The organiser recalls the last edition held in Amarante, in 2019, which was attended by around 80 thousand people, predicting that another “unforgettable” edition will take place in 2024.

“Thus, we anticipate yet another Mimo Festival in Amarante with unique sounds, aesthetics and textures, in which music occupies not only the stages, but the entire city, with concerts and activities such as lectures, workshops, exhibitions, performances, cinema and guided tours”, reads the announcement.

The festival was born in Olinda, Brazil, with 60 editions to date.
