“In addition to enriching the destination's tourism portfolio and promoting a logic of complementarity between the various experiences that the region offers to visitors, this strategy has been decisive in maintaining a positive evolution of several indicators”, says the ATA, in a statement.

The positive balance was contributed to by the 2.8% increase in overnight stays and 3.1% increase in guests in the first six months of the year, as well as the 3.3% increase in passengers arriving at Faro Airport and the 6% increase in the number of golf rounds.

“These figures reflect the effort and work that has been carried out together with the sector, allowing us to foresee a promising summer for the region”, predicts the ATA, which expects to continue expanding its member base, having gained 15 new companies from the region in this first half of the year, increasing the total number of members to 391.

ATA also recalls that, in the first half of 2024, several marketing campaigns were prepared, and carried out in partnership with tour operators and airlines, in a promotional effort that also included participation in 32 trade fairs and events in the sector, which continue to be seen as “a fundamental strategy to increase interest in the Algarve”.
