This expansion plan, which adds 15,000 square meters (m2) of available space in 2025, includes two new locations in the north of the country, in Porto, on Rua da Alegria, and in Vila Nova de Gaia, near GaiaShopping, and a third space in the Lisbon region, near Fórum Montijo, according to a report by idealista.
With this expansion, Control Space will increase its total storage area to approximately 27,000 m2, following the growth strategy outlined in the recent joint venture with Incus Capital.
Control Space currently operates in Lisbon and Porto and sees this expansion as an opportunity to strengthen its presence in the country's main metropolitan areas, consolidating its position as one of the leading self-storage operators in Portugal.
“Our mission is to offer safe and flexible storage solutions, especially in the context of the housing crisis that we are experiencing in our country, which is leading both families and companies to seek alternatives to the lack of space. Being close to people is essential for us”, says Albano Costa Lobo, co-founder of Control Space.
The company reveals that it will make Control Space's 100% automated model available in all new spaces, which offers customers the possibility of access with total flexibility, via a mobile application.
"The new facilities in Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, and Montijo will feature LED lighting activated by motion sensors and solar panels, contributing to energy efficiency and alignment with the main ESG standards in the sector. The new spaces will also allow electric vehicles to be charged on the premises", adds the statement.
When will these open in the Algarve? Still significant gouging in the curated long term storage market here, including ridiculous fees for access to containers.
