Miguel Oliveira, from Almada, crashed badly at turn four of the Indonesian Mandalika circuit and was declared unfit by the championship doctors.
Oliveira was taken to a local hospital to undergo further tests to determine whether he needs to undergo surgery to correct the fracture.
“He will undergo a three-dimensional CT scan at the Mataram hospital to assess the need for surgery,” the North American team Trackhouse announced.
This will be the first race that the Portuguese rider has missed this season due to injury.
Oliveira, 29, currently occupies 14th place in the MotoGP World Championship, with 71 points.
Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati) leads the competition, with a 24-point advantage over Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati).
