"We are here fighting for our career, which was last valued in 2002. We are reaching a point of no return. We are not asking for anything that is out of this world, just what is fair," Ricardo Ribeiro, told Lusa.
In 2002, “firefighters received the equivalent of two or three national minimum wages and today, if we remove subsidies, a firefighter at the beginning of their career receives below the minimum wage", said Ricardo Ribeiro at the door of Campos XXI, where a meeting is taking place between unions and elements of the Government.
Most of the firefighters are in uniform and others wear black t-shirts with the phrase “firefighters without a fight” on them.
In addition to Lisbon, there are firefighters from various areas of the country, from Coimbra, Leiria, Sardoal, Setúbal and Viseu.
