This will be the 12th strike that RL drivers have carried out since July last year, with the last strike taking place on April 1.
The strike is called by the Independent Union of Road Workers of Lisbon (SITRL) and will last for 24 hours, starting at 03:00.
Essentially, RL workers are demanding a salary increase to 750 euros, in order to “compensate for the increase in the minimum wage”.
Currently, the average salary of a RL worker is around 700 euros (gross), while the national minimum wage is 705 euros.
Currently, Rodoviária de Lisboa, a road passenger transport company, operates in the municipalities of Lisbon, Loures, Odivelas and Vila Franca de Xira, all in the Lisbon district, serving around 400,000 inhabitants.
