Despite the Portuguese international's later apology, the
mother of Jacob Kelly, an autistic boy who was 14 at the time of the incident,
says she felt intimidated by the Manchester United player.
According to a report by the Mirror, Sarah Kelly said that a
day after the attack, a man called Sergio claiming to be Ronaldo’s PA called
her with an offer to meet the player at United.
She claims she was told by this person: “Do you know who
Ronaldo is?”
She then recounted the conversations she had to the newspaper. “I told him, ‘Of course I do and the answer is no. I hung up
and was shaking and crying. I felt intimidated. How dare they?” Sarah said the
same man phoned again two days later saying Ronaldo would like to speak to her
personally.
The player called but she described him as the “most
arrogant man I’ve ever spoken to”.
“The phone rang again and a man said, ‘Hello this is
Cristiano Ronaldo.’
“He asked me if I would like to come down and meet his
family. He said, ‘I’m not a bad dad.’ I said to him, ‘I never said you were a
bad dad.’
He said, ‘I had a terrible upbringing, I lost my dad.’ I
said to him, ‘Everybody has a sob story Ronaldo, I lost my dad young, I’ve had
cancer.’
“He kept calling me Jack and didn’t even know my name and I
said, ‘My name is Sarah’ and he said, ‘Oh, Sarah, I’m sorry.’
“He never referred to Jacob by his name either, it was
always ‘the boy’. ‘I know the boy’s got problems,’ he said. I told him, ‘He
hasn’t got a problem, he has a disability, you’re the one with the problem.’
"He said ‘I’m sorry’ but then added, ‘I haven’t done
anything wrong.’ He said he hadn’t ‘kicked, killed or punched anybody’.
“That lit my fire, I was raging and my heart was
pumping and I told him, ‘So you smacking my son’s hand and bruising it, is not
hurting anybody?’
“He said I don’t want it in the media or press and the
court. He said he had a good legal team, he would win and he would fight me all
the way. He said he knew how to play the media.”
She added: “He asked me what I wanted from him and I just
said, ‘I don’t want anything from you, the police are dealing with it.’”
“I came off the phone and he’d made me question myself, like
we’d done something wrong. He had gaslighted me. I was in floods of tears.
“This was a police investigation and I was a witness. I felt
intimidated and furious he had been given my number. I’m absolutely disgusted
he’s got away with this. He’s not even replaced my son’s phone. Meanwhile the
trolls have made my life a living hell.
“A lot were Manchester United fans saying my son probably
robbed the phone anyway. It was disgusting. My boy has a heart of gold.
“I’m scared to leave the house, always looking over my
shoulder. We were made out to be the criminals and Ronaldo the innocent victim.
“It’s been a total nightmare. I was speechless on the phone
when I heard he’d got a caution. Talk about a slap in the face and a total
misjustice.”
Don't trust anyone that is in the public eye. They sell lies and know how to be people pleasers to get a vote. There have been too many coincidences through the years to caution anyone with a brain that this C R is bad news and evil to his core. Arrogant is to kind of a word for people like him! He ain't that great, he is just a weak individual who intimidates his victims. Shallow cowards.

Whilst not condoning Ronaldo's behaviour it must be remembered that Jacob is pronounced Jackob in Portuguese and often shortened to Jak.
Also I am sure Jacob would have loved to meet the great man in person where some recompense, such as a new phone, would probably have been offered but was deprived of this by the belligerent attitude of his mother.

1rst of all, my sincere respect for the firmness of the kid´s mother not to sell herself the minute Cristiano Ronaldo et Al pulled their usual PR stunts. THIS ISN´T ABOUT MONEY, IT´S ABOUT RESPECT. The pb with ppl accepting such deals is that the perpetrator then believes he can continue abusing people, as long as he pays financially. Thank you for sharing your experience (his turning into different roles to see which one works, including playing the victim himself…!) I´m way too “familiarized” with these pathological liars, so you didn´t have to write this for me to read between the lines. Other people, however? Thank you for showing them what these ppl ARE REALLY LIKE. It´s necessary “education” for some. RESPECT CAN´T BE BOUGHT, IT´S EARNED. Learn that, Cristiano Ronaldo.

And that's how he will be remembered as great goalscorer and the most selvish and arrogant person in history of football. And some have called him a great example for kids to follow?? Sad story.

I’m sure Ronaldo gets pressure like we all would if we were in the public view everyday. Give him some room. I’ve seen him do a lot for kids, that should not go unnoticed or deleted by this incident.

Just rejember, he only kicks a fottball around for a living. He hadn’t saved anyone’s life, cured a cancer or invented a vaccine. He’s only a sportsman.

Having just read the story, yes he did try to knock the phone out of her son's hand but in all honesty I really think he did try to make amends, firstly by trying to to get her phone number so that he could ring up.and then he did try to explain his own circumstances..
I think as another poster just said,if she had not been so belligerent and went to meet him halfway andet his family as she had been invited to,he wanted to obviously make amends, and she just didn't want to give him a chance.
That's a shame, her son probably would have got a new phone out of it and an apology and they could have left on much better terms!!

Oh happy C R bashing. People love it so much. Just seems like nothing else to report on ...

I agree with Karen of UK. I am not a football fan at all, but from what I can gather, Ronaldo did try to make amends and the mother flatly refused. Pity because her son would have had an interesting experience. Ronaldo does many great positive things with his money, especially for children, but people only jump on negatives.

Its been obvious for many years that the man is arrogant.
