The message is being shared as the police prepare to
increase road inspections of motorcyclists between Friday and Sunday in Beja,
Évora, Faro, Lisbon, Santarém and Setúbal, at a time where the Superbike World
Championship takes place, in Portimão.
The GNR justifies the operation as being due to the
“significant increase” in the volume of traffic of motorcycles over the weekend
due to the event in the Algarve.
Motorcyclists are above the law when they pass in-between 2 lines of cars in the middle to be first in line when the light changes. I have never seen a policeman in Miami or Porto pull one over for a violation; they are basically cheating like the guy who pulls up in front of a long line of cars waiting to exit and cuts right in; that's where road rage comes into place. The police should focus a bit more on them than just a weekend in the Algarve as they startle drivers and can cause accidents for others and themselves although I don't have an faith this will change.
