The alert was given at 12:41 pm, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon), noting that “a crew member of a merchant ship had suffered a fall overboard”.

The man was assisted and transported by members of the Alcabideche Volunteer Firefighters to a hospital, as he had back pain and a suspected fracture.

Elements of the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) also travelled to the site.
