In a statement the company explains that this is not just a “personal victory”, but also “a milestone for Portugal and for global baking”.
“Throughout her career, Elisabete has inspired new generations, especially women, to follow their dreams and raise the standards of the baking industry with dedication and professionalism,” it said.
At 46 years old, the distinction, awarded by the International Union of Bakery and Pastry (UIBC), comes due to her contribution to the industry and the “preservation of traditional processes and techniques”.
The winner is the third generation of a family linked to the sector, but her vision goes beyond bread production. She is president of Club Richemont Portugal, where she shares her experience and knowledge.
For Elisabete Ferreira, this “is a victory that reflects her contribution to the sector, elevating the role of women in baking”.
