American Express Travel recently launched a list of trending
destinations for the 2023 holidays in the United States of America (USA) and
Lisbon is among the top 10.
To carry out this study – “Amex Trendex” -, the company used
global data from American Express Card to see which places had the highest
number of reservations between 2019 and 2022. All respondents had a family
income of at least $70,000 per year (about 66,500 euros/year) and were defined
as people who usually travel by plane at least once a year, according to a report by Publituris.
In addition, the study gains insights into the tourism trend
through online interviews conducted with a range of travellers. According to
American Express Travel, 70% of respondents said they wanted to travel to one
of the places on the list, and 50% of them are already planning to spend their
summer holidays next year in one of the destinations indicated by the American
Express Travel study.
The 10 most popular travel destinations to vacation in the
US in 2023 are:
- Copenhagen (Denmark)
- Florida Keys (Florida, USA)
- Istanbul (Turkey)
- Lisbon, Portugal)
- Mexico City (Mexico)
- Montenegro
- Paris (France)
- Sydney (Australia)
- Woodstock (Vermont, USA)
- Yakuve Island (Fiji)
It should be noted that the "Amex Trendex" concluded that 50% of adults admitted to spending at least five hours planning their holidays, also revealing that 81% of respondents want to maximize every hour of their trips, making expert guidance on destination itineraries a resource valuable. Furthermore, 88% of respondents to this study would like their trips to be longer.
I am delighted that lisbon is withing the top ten but let's not forget the Algarve!!!
My so came to visit me for a long weekend. Flight arrived on time. No baggage BUT over an hour and a half to get through passport control. What is going on. He won't tell his friends to come out when to get through passport control takes nearly as long as the flight.
Please improve
