The distinction was received at a ceremony held in London, with Lisbon beating off strong competition from Barcelona, Budapest, Krakow, New York, Prague and Rome.
For the executive director of the Lisbon Tourism Association, Paula Oliveira, “this distinction recognises Lisbon as a privileged destination for UK tourists for a getaway, given the diversity of tourist attractions of high interest that the destination has.”
The Star Awards, an award from the publication Travel Bulletin, chooses companies, products and services based on the votes of travel agents and professionals in the sector. Categories include the best destinations, airlines, cruise lines, hotels, travel agencies and tour operators.
