In total, 40 producers from the Demarcated White Wine Region will present their diverse offering of wine, from light and fresh drinks to more complex, long-lasting drinks from odd grape castes like Alvarinho, Loureiro and Avesso, among many others. There will be rosés, Atlantic reds and reds of character, sparkling wines to cheer with on all occasions.
Five restaurants and another five food trucks will be open throughout the festival, offering an eclectic list of culinary options, from meat on the grill to the tastes of the sea, salty snacks to sweets. The Gentlemen’s Market will gather iconic brands, “Hands in the Dough” sessions will challenge visitors to authentic cooking lessons, there will be competitions carried out by specialists, games and activities to do in family, DJ shows and a banquet, where renowned chefs’ mastery is harmonised with a curated selection of wines.
The rosters for each day have also been confirmed already. On Friday, September 8th, Os Azeitonas will take the stage, a Porto-based pop rock band made up of Mário Marlon Brandão, Luísa Nena Barbosa and João Salcedo that’s been nominated twice for the “Best Portuguese Act” award at the MTV Europe Music Awards, who have made hits such as “Quem És Tu Miúda,” “Anda Comigo Ver os Aviões” and “Ray-Dee-Oh.”
On Saturday the 9th, Rui Reininho, Toli César Machado and Jorge Romão are the headliners. The GNR are way more than a modern rock band, they’re already a cultural institution in this country, cared for in one way or another by different generations. On Sunday the 10th, the party at the end of the festival is guaranteed with the Luso-Brazilian Samba Wheel Cravo & Canela.
The official programme of the 2nd Green Wine – Essência Festival (Art, Wine, Food, Music) will be announced in further detail in due time, along with the opening of the online ticket shop. The event is organised by Essência Company with sponsoring mainly from the Commission of Viticulture for the White Wine Region and the support of Porto council.
