The Pontinha Sul car park (387 spaces) and the Azinhaga da Cidade car park (165 spaces) are to be included in a new CML project that the vice-president of the municipality, Filipe Anacoreta Correia Correia (CDS-PP), considers to be “very important in terms of mobility policies” and which will be launched next year.

“Let's call it the 'navigating parks': they are a set of parks that aim to cover almost 2,000 parking spaces. We’re allowing people who have the Navegante pass to park their car in these parks and then move around the city with the passes, therefore using public transport,” said the mayor responsible for Finance, during the presentation of the municipal budget for 2024, at the Paços do Concelho.

In addition to the two car parks that the municipality hopes to inaugurate next year, the Ameixoeira (489 spaces), Telheiras Poente (155 spaces), Telheiras Nascente (106 spaces), Avenida de Pádua (248 spaces) and Colégio Militar (415 spaces) car parks will be allocated to this system, totalling 1,965 spaces.

“We're talking about several very important parks in various areas of the city that are within easy reach of public transport. So, the aim is precisely that, with the Navegante pass, more and more of us have access to intermodality and integrated mobility solutions, promoting the use of public transport,” he said.

In addition to these two, CML also hopes to inaugurate a car park in Travessa do Bahuto, in Campo de Ourique, in 2024.

In terms of mobility, the municipality's budget is 289 million euros (ME), most of which is related to the budgets of Carris (183 ME) and EMEL (74 ME).

In 2024, the municipal budget plans to spend 14.9 ME on the programme of free passes for students and senior citizens.

As for soft mobility, the Lisbon municipality plans to invest 14.3 ME in 2024 and 2025 to have 19 new cycle paths (an extra 17 kilometres) and 23 new links between routes in the cycle network (an extra 11.4 kilometres).

“If possible, in 2024”, the Gira bicycle network should reach all of Lisbon's parish councils, with 36 more stations, the mayor also said.
