To do this, drivers only need to hold their citizen card or digital mobile key to access the 'My Driving License' portal. According to the Institute of Mobility and Transport, after registration, the user benefits from a 10% discount on the fee payable, reducing travel costs to the IMT's in-person service.

The certificate, which has a new 'layout', can be issued in Portuguese or English and is valid for six months. It is possible to verify its authenticity by reading the QR CODE or verification code.

Around 3,000 driving license certificates are requested from the IMT annually, the majority of which are used to present to similar foreign entities as part of a request to exchange a license in another country.
