The weekend started at St. James’ Park as Newcastle United came back from 1-3 down to beat David Moyes’ West Ham 4-3 in a thrilling encounter. Alexander Isak and Harvey Barnes both scored a brace to give the ‘Toon’ the three points.

A Seamus Coleman own goal gave AFC Bournemouth a late winner at the Vitality Stadium. Andoni Iraola’s side took the lead through Dominic Solanke – who scored his 16th goal of the season for the Cherries. Portuguese striker Beto thought he salvaged a point in the last five minutes of the game – however the own goal means that Everton have now failed to win a game in a record 12 games in the Premier League this season.

A Cole Palmer brace was not enough for Chelsea as they were held to a 2-2 draw by 10-man Burnley at Stamford Bridge. Josh Cullen and Dara O’Shea were on the scoresheet for the Clarets – who remain 19th in the table.

At the City Ground, Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace. Jean-Philippe Mateta and Chris Wood were on target for their respective clubs. Forest remain 17th in the league on goal difference.

Fulham came back from 3-1 to draw 3-3 at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United. Rodrigo Muniz scored a 93rd minute equaliser to break the hearts of the Blades who remain winless in their last five matches.

Luton Town gave Tottenham Hotspur a scare at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The visitors took the lead through Tahith Chong in the 3rd minute – however Spurs’ superior quality showed in the end as Son Heung-Min's late goal gave Ange Postecoglou’s side an important victory after Issa Kabore’s own goal earlier in the second half.

In Saturday’s 5:30pm kick-off, goals from Moussa Diaby and Ezri Konsa gave Aston Villa the victory over Wolves at Villa Park. The result means Villa are three points ahead of Spurs in 4th spot in the Premier League.

At 8pm, Brentford somehow managed to draw with Manchester United at the Gtech Community Stadium. Thomas Frank’s side had a record 31 shots in the game. Mason Mount scored his first goal for Manchester United in second half added time – however Kristoffer Ajer’s strike gave Brentford a point.

On Sunday, the title race began as Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah’s goals cancelled out Danny Welbeck’s superb finish to beat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 at Anfield. The win puts Jurgen Klopp’s side top of the league.

Manchester City and Arsenal went head-to-head in the ‘main event’ of the weekend. However, the game disappointed massively as no side managed to score or even look like breaking the deadlock.
