Fado singer Raquel Tavares, who returned to the stage this year after a break in her career, performs on the opening day of the festival, on the terrace of Teatro Lópes Ayala, accompanied by musicians Bernardo Viana, on viola, Pedro Viana, on Portuguese guitar, and Francisco Gaspar, on bass guitar.
The following day, in the same space, singer Celia Romero performs accompanied by pianist Andrés Barrios.
On July 4th, at the Ricardo Carrapeto Auditorium, the Orquestra de Extremadura pays homage to the musician Porrina de Badajoz, artistic name of José Salazar Molina (1924-1977), “flamenco icon, an unavoidable reference of flamenco in Spanish Extremadura”, he highlighted the organisation.
The following day, on the same stage, the Sara Baras dance company performs, paying homage to another now-deceased musician, Paco de Lucía (1947-2014), son of the Portuguese Lúcia Gomes.
This show marks the 25th anniversary of the dance company of choreographer and dancer Sara Baras.
Fado singer Mariza closes the festival, on the 6th, on the auditorium stage.
Mariza, one of the most international Portuguese artists, has been distinguished throughout her career with several national and international awards, such as the Amália Award for Best Performer, in 2005, in the same year that she was appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
