The Portuguese-Galician Book Fair of Ribeira do Minho is going to be held in Caminha, A Guarda, and O Rosal (Galicia, Spain) following the establishment of the Eurocity Foz do Minho, according to the Caminha municipal authorities. The creation of the Eurocity aims to strengthen ties between Caminha, A Guarda, and O Rosal, promoting cooperation between the three municipalities.
According to a statement released by the municipality of the Viana do Castelo district, "it is now certain that the Luso-Galaica Book Fair of Ribeira Minho, a partnership also with the Union of Parishes of Caminha and Vilarelho and the Digital Newspaper Caminha2000, which traditionally also took place in A Guarda, will now include O Rosal."
In an attempt to "prepare the cultural strategy" for 2025, the Culture Councillors of the three municipalities met and decided on the book fair. "Strengthen ties between Caminha, A Guarda and Rosal, promoting cooperation between the three municipalities in a set of areas that are transversal and that are also pillars of the region's development" is the stated goal of the Eurocity's establishment.
According to the Declaration of Interest for the Creation of the Eurocity of Foz do Minho, the municipalities "are border and adjacent territories that have a rich natural, historical, and cultural heritage, share a natural border such as the River Minho and a large part of their main geographical, economic, social, historical, and cultural characteristics”.
