According to Lusa, Keizer, 50, broke with the club three days after the team lost 3-2 at home to Rio Ave, in their fourth match this season in the Primeira Liga, the country’s top flight.
The Dutchman had a contract with Sporting for two more seasons, until 30 June 2021, but has not been even a year in the club. He arrived in November 2018, succeeding Tiago Fernandes, who served as interim coach after the club president, Frederico Varandas, fired the previous coach, José Peseiro.
In the 2018/19 season, Kezier led Sporting to victory in two competitions, the League Cup and the Portuguese Cup.
Sporting are currently fifth in the league with seven points - three fewer than leader Famalicão. The interim coach, according to the same source, is to be Leonel Pontes, who until now has coached the under-23 team.
