According to IPMA, the districts of Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra, Leiria, Lisbon, Porto and Viana do Castelo will be under a yellow warning until 6:00 pm today, turning to orange until 6:00 pm on Friday and then red (the most serious on a scale of three) between 6pm on Friday and 3pm on Saturday.

These seven districts will then be under an orange warning between 15:00 on Saturday and 00:00 on Sunday.

Due to the maritime unrest, the IPMA has also placed the districts of Faro, Setúbal and Beja under yellow warning (between 00:00 and 09:00 on Friday), then changing to orange until 00:00 on Sunday.

The IPMA predicts periods of rain at least until the weekend, which could be heavy, falling temperatures, sea agitation and strong winds due to the passage of a cold front.

In a statement, IPMA said that this change in the weather “is associated with the weakening of an anticyclone that was located to the west of the Iberian Peninsula.”
