Switzerland and Italy began proceedings on Saturday as the Swiss knocked the holders out in Berlin.

Switzerland 2-0 Italy

Remo Freuler and Ruben Vargas were on the scoresheet for Murat Yakin's Switzerland as they outplayed the holders Italy in the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Germany 2-0 Denmark

Kai Havertz’ penalty and Jamal Musiala's strike gave Germany a comfortable victory in Dortmund despite a weather stoppage due to severe thunder and lightning.

England 2-1 Slovakia

Despite a lacklustre performance, England overturned Ivan Schranz’ first-half goal to setup a quarter-final with Switzerland. Jude Bellingham’s bicycle kick gave Gareth Southgate's men the equaliser with seconds left in the game before Harry Kane’s header gave England the victory in extra-time.

Spain 4-1 Georgia

Spain were dominant winners in Cologne as Rodri, Fabian Ruiz, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo were on the scoresheet for La Roja after going 0-1 down after Robin Le Normand’s first-half own goal.

France 1-0 Belgium

Randal Kolo-Muani’s shot ricocheted off Belgium’s Jan Vertonghen in the 85th minute to send Didier Deschamps team to the next round- where they will face Portugal in a rematch of the Euro 2016 final.

Portugal 0-0 Slovenia (Portugal win 3-0 on penalties)

Cristiano Ronaldo’s efforts were not enough in the 120 minutes as a dogged Slovenia side managed to bring Portugal to a penalty shootout – where Portugal’s Diogo Costa would save three penalties from three to send the Seleção to the quarter-finals.

Romania 0-3 Netherlands

Cody Gakpo and a Donyell Malen brace sent the Dutch into the quarter-finals against a spirited Romania team – who just fell short. Ronald Koeman’s side will feel confident in getting to the semi-finals as they face Turkey in the Last 8 on Saturday.

Austria 1-2 Turkey

Turkey’s Merih Demiral was at the double for Turkey as they beat Ralf Rangnick’s Austria at the Leipzig Stadium. Turkey have qualified for the quarter-finals for the first time since Euro 2008. Turkey will have their goalkeeper Mert Günok to thank after his outrageous save in the dying embers of the game sent Turkey to the next round.
