The piri-píri, known worldwide for its intense and spicy flavour, is the star of the festival, organised by the Municipality of Albufeira, in partnership with the Parish Council of Guia and Chef Nuno Bergonse, bringing to the municipality, from 27 to 29 September, an event that aims to explore the various facets of this ingredient, from traditional cuisine to the most innovative combinations, in a celebration that promises to challenge the taste buds of visitors.

The program starts on 27 September, at 17:00, with a cooking show by Chef Glediston, followed by a performance by Fanfarra Bizarra. On the first day, visitors can watch Chef Noélia Jerónimo's cooking show at 7:00 pm, and the Fado Night, with Manelito and Viola Paulo Feteira on Portuguese guitar and the voices of Ana Valentim and Luís Manhita, at 8:30 pm. To end the evening, barman Francisco Guilherme will lead a spicy cocktail workshop, where he will teach how to create unique drinks with a touch of chilli.

On the second day, Saturday, the festival opens its doors at 12:00 pm and runs until midnight. One of the highlights is the “Spicy Seasonings and Spices Workshop”, led by Chef Renato Bonfim, at 4:00 pm. At 5:00 pm, the "Spicy Challenge" competition will begin, a moment of fun and competition for the bravest. On the same day, Pastry Chef Clayton Ferreira will present a showcooking session dedicated to chocolates with chilli peppers, in a bold combination that challenges the senses. The Improvável Orchestra and a concert by Ritiele Cunha will round off the day's programme with a flourish.

The last day of the Festival, on 29 September, will begin at 1pm with a performance by Bejazz. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to watch several showcooking sessions with Chefs Nuno Bergonse, Bertílio Gomes and Celine, who will share secrets and techniques for incorporating chilli peppers into their culinary creations. One of the highlights of the day will be the "Natura" Workshop, where participants will learn how to plant and care for their own chilli pepper plants. Rastolhice will take to the stage at 8.30pm to close the event.

The Mayor of Albufeira states that “the Piri-Píri Festival is a unique opportunity to discover new dishes, learn cooking techniques and, of course, taste the best spicy dishes in good company”. José Carlos Rolo believes that “the Festival is a tribute to one of the most used condiments in the gastronomy of our municipality”, especially when we talk about the famous Frango da Guia. The Mayor also stresses that “this first edition is more than just a gastronomic celebration, considering the event as a contribution to boosting the local economy, outside the high season”.
