Alma (two Michelin stars); Cura, Kabuki, and Sála by João Sá (one Michelin star each); Lapa; Pabe and Varanda do Ritz are the restaurants distinguished with ‘3 Forks’, in the 2023-2024 edition.
The organisation highlighted, that the restaurant sector faces a “challenging period”, due to the “shortage of qualified human resources, the continued increase in the costs of food products and energy, among others, and the difficulty of reservation management due to lack of attendance by customers”.
However, he highlighted, “Restaurants are resilient and in permanent development, and with everyone's contribution it will continue to grow”.
10 restaurants were also awarded the ‘2 Forks Superior’ award, “a record number”, 31 with ‘2 Forks’, 41 restaurants with ‘1 Fork Superior’ and 52 with ‘1 Fork’.
The prizes are awarded after several months of visits to the registered restaurants, totalling more than 530 visits carried out by a selected jury, which evaluates the cuisine, service, atmosphere, and quality/price ratio. The restaurants fall into the categories of Traditional Portuguese Cuisine, World Cuisine, and Contemporary Cuisine.
